Site P07 Paso Picacho Campground at Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, CA
Sept. 2002 before the fire & Sept. 2005 after the fire.
The historic fires that engulfed the outlying areas of Riverside and San Diego Counties in late October, 2003 destroyed much of the Cuyamaca Ranch area including Paso Picacho Campground. This year's CQ Worldwide RTTY Contest 2005 presented a unique opportunity for my field operations as I returned to the same campsite at Paso Picacho that I occupied for my "Ham Heaven" remote operation in September of '02 (see "Ham Heaven ~ Radio Camping" ).
The Palomino trailer shown above is for sale. Click here to view more.
Paso Picacho campground was reopened late Spring of 2005 and these pages document the "before & after" use of site P07 (shown above).
